Gregg Bendian

Drummer/percussionist/composer Gregg Bendian is widely recognized as an innovator in the fields of new music and percussion. His performances around the globe as soloist, ensemble leader and collaborator have received critical acclaim for their virtuosity, creativity and originality. Bendian has collaborated with some of the strongest personalities in contemporary music, including Cecil Taylor, John Zorn, George Lewis, William Parker, Tom Cora, Gary Lucas, Leo Smith, Pat Metheny, Peter Kovald, Peter Brotzmann, Roscoe Mitchell, Gavin Bryars, Joe Lovano, Derek Bailey, Evan Parker and Mark Dresser.

Gregg is timpani soloist with Ornette Coleman's Harmelodic Chamber Players, with whom he has performed and recently recorded. He is also featured as drummer and vibraphonist on ex-Captain Beefheart guitarist Zoot Horn Rollo's critically acclaimed first solo effort, "We Saw A Bozo Under The Sea" on ZHR Records. Bendian leads the ensembles Interzone (Requiem for Jack Kirby, Atavistic/2001), Trio Pianissimo and The Mahavishnu Project (Live Bootleg, Aggregate/2002) a band dedicated to performing the seminal works of John McLaughlin & The Mahavishnu Orchestra.
